Social innovation is a core part of the Verity Group ethos, and as such we are proudly partnering with the Liverpool based charity Beacon Counselling Trust, a mental health support provider delivering a wide range of community-based programmes through multiple locations across the North West.
These programmes include general mental health, eating disorders, addiction, veteran counselling support and suicide bereavement. The Trust has engaged with over 8000 patients in the last 2 years as part of these programmes.
Beacon Counselling Trust is the provider of the specialist suicide bereavement counselling service Paul's Place, which offers free one-to-one counselling sessions to those bereaved by suicide. Paul's Place has been awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, a collective MBE recognising the volunteers and all the work they have done to provide support to people across Merseyside.
One area the Trust is particularly specialised in is problematic gambling. Clinical Director Neil Platt (pictured) leads the Problematic Gambling Treatment programme, which is commisioned by GambleAware and GamCare. Neil also sits on the Howard League Commission, exploring the relationship between problem gambling and criminality in the UK.
